Poetry
Listen
In a vantage point which allows plentiful perspective
I sit and listen
Sinking into the chair, I merely exist to watch
And listen
Birds chirp and call outside the window
Chatter continues
Meaningless talk
Drama and the recital of events
To drown out the discomfort
The discomfort with the place we are in
The discomfort of my grandfather
His pained groans and cries
As we reconcile
With the place we are in
In my spot on the couch
I sit and watch
And listen
Yellow
Sunrise brings with it warm light and renewal
A new chance at life
You glow like the sun
Your touch warm like the caress of golden rays
You feel warm with affection
Adoration
Acceptance
You feel cold and nostalgic
The approach of Fall
The gentle breeze that brings the cold
Golden leaves that cling to withering trees
Cascading down slowly and lazily
Departing from their roots to take a chance with the wind
You move methodically
Slow and careful
You are sensitive much like fallen leaves
You allow others to enjoy your presence with the simple knowledge that you are a beautiful landscape
You drift and you change from your greener self to a golden yellow
Your truest form
Blaring Silence
No noises could be heard
Save the rattling of the air conditioning
And the chewing of the dog's bone
The cat
although present
Moved soundlessly
As if the slightest noise would be a disturbance of this peace
And in this moment in time
I feel the most fulfilled
Blissfully unaware of the rest of the world
And in this blaring silence I feel at home
